ABSTRACT

Pyrolysis of medical waste components combined via a novel systematic combination approach (sequentially binary, ternary, and quaternary copyrolysis) was conducted at 400°C to investigate the synergy between medical waste components in improving chemical characteristics and yields of pyrolytic oil. Pyrolysis of hydrocarbon-polymer-containing materials such as medical gloves and rubber bands produced more than 30% of liquid products with substantial compositions of saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon polymers. On the other hand, moisture- and carbonyl-rich pyrolytic liquid products with low selectivity were obtained from pyrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass waste such as HVS paper (houtvrij schrijfpapier, meaning "writing paper made from wood pulp”) and garden waste. Binary copyrolysis of lignocellulosic biomass and medical gloves exhibited improvement on pyrolytic liquid yield and selectivity toward saturated aliphatic hydrocarbon polymers due to hydrogen donor as the medical glove fraction became dominant. The addition of rubber band to the mixture of HVS paper and medical face masks enhanced the pyrolytic liquid yield. The pyrolysis of the mixture of HVS paper, medical face masks, medical gloves, and either rubber bands or cotton fabrics with mixture ratio of 60:20:10:10 yielded the most optimum pyrolytic liquid yield with significant distribution of alkanes in the pyrolytic liquid products. © 2023 Taylor & Francis Group, LLC.

ABSTRACT

Covid-19 is an infectious disease caused by a newly discovered type of coronavirus. Currently, Corona virus is a hot topic of discussion. In any hemisphere, it still dominates the public sphere. So that on March 11, 2020 WHO declared this outbreak a global pandemic. In Indonesia, the Large-Scale Social Restriction policy was implemented to suppress the spread this virus. Because Indonesia is carrying out PSBB, all activities carried out outside the home, including teaching and learning, must be stopped until this pandemic subsides and replaces it with an online system. From these problems, it can be formulated that the research objective is to evaluate the online learning of PIP Semarang cadets. This study uses a qualitative descriptive method. What is meant by descriptive means describing variable by variable, one by one. The qualitative method with an analytical descriptive study approach used in this study, as expressed is a qualitative method to obtain in-depth data, a data that contains meaning. The results of this study are The effectiveness of online learning carried out by 11% of respondents said it was very effective, 40% of respondents said it was effective, 47% of cadet respondents said online learning was less effective, and 2% said it was not effective. © 2023 Author(s).

ABSTRACT

Corona virus or severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) is a virus that can cause mild disorders of the respiratory system, severe lung infections, and death. The large number of confirmed cases is positive, giving special attention to groups that are vulnerable to infection such as groups with immunodeficiency, one of which is the group of people with HIV. This study aims to assess the effectiveness of presenting online COVID-19 education to increase knowledge, attitudes and practices to prevent COVID-19 in the Peer Support Group (KDS) Top Support Pelita Ilmu Foundation (YPI) located in Jakarta. This study used a qualitative method. Target of interventions are mentors and peer educators. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, self-administered questionnaire and report. The data analysis technique was carried out with three main activities, namely: data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The validity of the data was carried out by means of credibility through the triangulation of sources and methods. The results showed that providing COVID-19 education online by involving mentoring and empowering peer educators was effective in increasing knowledge about the COVID-19 prevention protocol. Providing online educational assistance through a peer educator approach is useful as a chain message to oneself, family, community and peers. People who are educated are becoming more diligent in implementing 3M and healthy lifestyles, but to know this behavior change consistently, further research is needed.

ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND: Family approach system (FAS) model is an approach to health education as efforts to optimize community movement healthy living (Germas) program days of the pandemic coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) which involved cadres. AIM: This study generally aims to analyze the effect of FAS model as an effort to optimize the Germas program. Specifically, the specific objective of this study is to analyze the effect of FAS model on the level of knowledge, attitudes, intentions, and public behavior regarding Germas. MATERIALS AND METHODS: This research was conducted using a cross-sectional method with a total sample of 3.026 people. The instrument used was a questionnaire to measure the effectiveness of the FAS model, knowledge, attitudes, intentions, and behavior. The statistical test used is the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. RESULTS: The increase which indicates the good category knowledge of the respondent is 97.4% with a value of p = 0.000, a positive attitude has also increased to 90.4% with a value of p = 0.000, and good intentions also have a significant increase to 94.2% with p = 0.000. The respondent’s good behavior also experienced a significant increase to 87.0 with a value of p = 0.000. CONCLUSIONS: There is an influence of the FAS model on people’s knowledge, attitudes, intentions, and behavior regarding Germas during the COVID-19 pandemic.

ABSTRACT

This is the first report to elucidate primate mixed-species association during Covid-19 outbreak in Malaysia. The observations were carried out at Genting Highlands between 14-24th April 2020 using ad libitum sampling. Five Genting Highlands primate species were observed at approximately 66 observation hours which include Symphalangus syndactylus (siamang), Trachypithecus obscurus obscurus (dusky langur), Presbytis siamensis siamensis (Malayan pale-thighed surili), Macaca nemestrina (southern pig-tailed macaque), and Macaca fascicularis (long-tailed macaque). Primates in Genting Highlands were seen interacting among themselves during the third phase of the MCO. Siamangs, dusky langurs, and long-tailed macaques were observed sharing space and interacting in an old section of Genting View Resorts that is currently under renovation. Malayan pale-thighed langurs were also observed approaching this area. During the third phase of the MCO, siamangs, dusky langurs, long-tailed macaques, and pig-tailed macaques consumed fruits of the fig tree (Ficus benjamina), which last for only one week. Strict controls on public movement are believed to have created environmental conditions that enabled Genting Highlands primates to move and interact freely among themselves. © Penerbit UMT

ABSTRACT

Past studies suggested that the sense of mattering tend to be a robust predictor of work self-efficacy, even when controlling for strong variables such as state self-esteem. This current study aimed to investigate whether the aforementioned suggested still holds among working adults who had to work from home (WFH) during the COVID-19 pandemic in Malaysia, where the government enforced movement control order (MCO), a semi-quarantine policy where individuals can only travel within 10 kilometer radius of their respective homes. We hypothesized that the state self-esteem will fully mediate the link between mattering and work self-efficacy during the period of WFH, and that trait extraversion will moderate the mediation. In the 5th week of the MCO, our data was gathered from 109 urban working adults in Malaysia who had to WFH by employing General Mattering Scale, State Self-Esteem Scale, Remote Work Self Efficacy Measure, and the extraversion facet in Big Five Inventory. The result of bootstrap analyses with 5000 samples using PROCESS Macro Model 8 suggested that state self-esteem mediated partially mediated the association of mattering and work self-efficacy among individuals at all levels of extraversion. Discussion, limitations and suggestions are provided in the end of the paper. © 2021, Universitas Ahmad Dahlan - Faculty of Publich Health. All rights reserved.
